Dwell magazine's web site features a gorgeous new home at Cinnamon Shore South!

Austin's Tricia Dabney of Dabney Designs created a masterpiece for a family who built a brand-new home at Cinnamon Shore's new Gulf-side village, and the magazine touts it as a perfect example of "transitional coastal style."

Transitional Coastal Style

Dwell is a shelter magazine that showcases contemporary design and ideas, and the online article highlights the homeowner's desire for a nature-inspired home with open spaces. It describes its interiors by saying that "the home’s open-style spaces, envelop visitors into an airy and ever-so-beachy ambiance." With a background of whites and light-filled spaces, "beach blue and turquoise pops of color" enliven the rooms, including the bright turquoise, Big Chill Retro Stove selected to punctuate the gorgeous kitchen.

'Crown Jewel of the Home'

Dwell highlights this chef's paradise, with the 36-inch Big Chill stove set amid all-white cabinetry--a specific request of the homeowner. Pendant lighting with wicker shades drop from the cathedral ceilings on nautical-inspired ropes, while wicker, bar-height seating pulls up to the kitchen island for extra seating. Open shelvings hold stacks of dishes and turquoise accessories to continue the white-and-turquoise theme. Shiplap on the walls feel beachy and the room seamlessly transitions to the dining area and family room, where wallpaper selections and more shiplap help connect the space, according to the magazine.

Stunning Selections

Dabney found an incredible turquoise blue chandelier to dramatically hang over the dining table, while turquoise trim on pillows contrast the all-white sofa in the main living space. From blue-and-turqoise tropical fabric on the club chairs to the shade of blue painted to accent the rear walls of built-in bookshelves, the colors of Gulf waters find their way into this inviting space. And Dwell says the "blue undercurrent continues into the home's bedrooms.

Bunk Room Blues

In the charming bunk room, white coverlets cover the bunks but dusty blue pillow bring in water blue hues. Many homes at Cinnamon Shore showcase built-in bunks and sturdy ladders kids love, and many include built-in bins and shelving for storing games.

Mixing Shades of Blue

And in another guest room, the rustic, turquoise bench at the foot of the bed contrasts the more subdued shade on the headboard. In all the bedrooms, comfortable linens and pillows coordinate to create memorable stays for the homeowner and guests.

Dwell also points out the nature-inspired artwork and finishes, such as the shorebird prints and waathered-looking finishes on these furnishings throughout the home.
