interior living

White on white

In the soaring third-floor main living space, white draperies with just a single band of blue frame the Gulf views against white, shiplap-clad walls. The light-colored sofa with subtle, dusty-blue piping contributes to the clean look, while navy-and-white upholstered chairs add pattern and a nautical nod.

dining and painting

Statement artwork

This charming painting in the dining area makes a statement in more ways than one. Happy pastels create can't-miss, colorful focal point against the all-white backdrop, and the artwork lets you know exactly where you are, saying: "From my front porch you can see the sea." It's also a nod to the name the owners gave the home -- See the Sea.

kitchen island and window seat

Echoing an accent color

In the kitchen, the color of the dusty blue Roman shades is repeated in the upholstery of the window seat cushion, which makes the perfect spot for someone to curl up and read or to sit and visit with the cook. In the mostly white space, the subtle, but repeating accent colors contributes to the overall symmetry of this contemporary take on farmhouse style.

powder room wallpaper

Pattern and color in the powder room

Going from the spacious, airy main living to the small half bath gives the designer an opportunity to introduce a sunny yellow wallpaper with a repeated print. Here, the crisp white of the vessel sink and the rope detail on the round mirror serves as the accent color to the bolder, color walls.

rattan bed

Contemporary take on timeless elements

For the beach setting, this sleigh bed in the 3rd-floor master bedroom calls on a delicate, woven rattan, rather than a heavy wood for the headboard and footboard. The straight lines of the overhead light fixture and its exposed bulbs offer a fresh version of the classic chandelier.

3rd fl master bath tile

Floor-to-shower tile  work

Along the soaking tub and double vanities in the 3rd-floor master bathroom, the pattern of the tile on the floor continues on the lip of the walk-in shower and into the shower itself. This creates continuity and extends the view, lengthening the space.

2nd fl master artwork

Artwork as headboard

In the 2nd-floor master, a king-size bed with drawers built-in to the base has no genuine headboard. Instead, the wall-size, geometric wall hanging behind it serves the same purpose and exuding contemporary vibes.

2nf master bath

Strategic use of color

In the master suite on the 2nd-floor, the sun-yellow accents really shine amid the mostly white color scheme. Echoing the same shade as the bedroom's throw at the foot of the bed, a yellow jug on the master bath countertop and box below help tie the rooms together for a cohesive retreat that feels special.

2nd fl queen

Clever paint trim treatment

In the fish-theme, queen bedroom on the second floor, the tropical fish orange paint outlines the windows and door frame. It's a fun way to introduce color to the all-white walls throughout the home.

Bathroom tile matching the bedroom's accent hue

In this suite,  the designer connects the look of the bedroom with the bath by choosing large tiles in the shower that echo the paint trim color and bedroom.

bunk detail

Nautical details in the bunk room

It's the small things that set smart design apart. Note the small anchor and buoy accents tied to the bunks that set the scene and delight the kids who stay in this ship-shape bunk room.

family bunk and crib

Family-friendly arrangement

A great idea to welcome young families, this guest room offers a bed for mom and dad along with a loft twin bed over a crib.

sitting with bunk area and surf

Extra bunks in the downstairs den

In the surf-theme, first-floor den, built-in bunks provide extra sleep safe for guests--but they don't feel tacked on. It's easy to imagine kids piled on the bunks and teens on the sofa all watching a movie after a day at the beach.

1st floor bunk white w color

Texture and dimension to jazz up the look

In the first-floor bunk room, the all-white scheme showcases another way to use an accent color. Here, the orange poms on a throw pillow add not just a touch of tangerine but a fun, new texture that feels whimsical.

swing

A swing hanging indoors bringing the outdoors in

The wood slat swing suspended by nautical rope iwill delight the children -- and the kid in all of us. It makes a fun conversation piece hanging near the kitchen and primary living room.

view on porch

Perfect placement of Adirondack-style, bar-height chairs

When you have views like this one of the Gulf, your selection of outdoor furniture is key. This set of barstool-style chairs positions you to see over the railing.

outdoor shower

Surfboard-theme outdoor shower

Go beyond the typical shower head or hose! Here a surf board is fitted with the nozzle for the perfect place to rinse your feet after a day on the beach.

Outdoor swings combine with outdoor seating

On the  third-floor balcony, an inviting swing adds to the other seating groups, which include a toddler table and chairs and a sofa-and-chairs seating area. Explore the options for outdoor fabrics on pillows and upholstery that make long-lasting, stylish seating.
