Favorite Beach Traditions

Come to the shore and repeat these carefree rituals.

Epic card games. Sandcastle contests. Lifelong memories start simply at the beach—from walking on the beach at sunset to taking a week to complete a puzzle laid on the dining table. We asked homeowners to share favorite traditions and noticed many rituals captured in our photo contests.

 “Treasured family time.”—Betty M.

New Year's Visits

The Yiannos family keeps the winter holiday fun going. We love the champagne bottle sand sculpture from their 2021 New Year’s visit!

“Our tradition is spending New Years at the beach! Our family absolutely loves Christmastime; however, we always get a little blue when Christmas Day is over. We found the best cure is to pack up and head to the beach! We love the peacefulness of the beach in winter. It’s a perfect place to relax and connect as a family after a busy holiday season. We very much look forward to it every year!”

Morning Sunrise Rituals

Katie G. says morning walks to see the sunrise are a mandatory part of beach days.

“Our 20-month-old daughter loves this part of the boardwalk, where the beach comes into view for the first time. There will be time to sleep in later. For now, sunrise walks to the beach have become a tradition on our annual family trip to Cinnamon Shore.”—Katie G.

Bring Your Flashlight!

We’ve seen many photo contest entries celebrating the time-honored tradition of looking for crabs to scurry across the sand.

Group Photo Sessions

Whether you hire on-site Flash Photo Creative or line everyone up for DIY photo shoot, many families aim to capture sea-splashed memories with multi-generations when everyone is together at the shore.

“My parents and their six grandsons on the beach [at Cinnamon Shore.] Such a special photo and a wonderful memory of our week together”—Lindsey W.

Another popular photo op tradition? Taking pictures of growing kids in the same place every year.

“Seven years of taking pictures in this pool. Same spot!”—Samia G.

 Returning Each Year

For Tiffany L., just returning to Cinnamon Shore each summer is a tradition—with favorite activities on repeat.

“Our family discovered Cinnamon Shore five years ago and fell in love! We’ve returned each summer and hope to continue the tradition for years to come. We love long, lazy days at the beach, driving golf carts into town, eating at Dylan’s, and watching amazing sunsets.”
—Tiffany L.
