Island Style in Blush Pink

For interior designer Raquel Skrobarczyk of Heather Scott Home & Design in Austin, TX, the pink shutters on the outside of this eye-catching property sparked the plan for entire project. “They were the jumping off point,” Raquel says, noting that they inspired the interior color scheme featuring blush pink, butter yellow, and powder blue.

Departure from Beach House Navy

“The unexpected combination [of colors] in our beach house adds a playful touch,” says owner Sheila Balog. “While many beach houses typically feature nautical blues, we wanted ours to stand out. This color palette is designed to inspire smiles and promote a sense of relaxation.” The couple also realized that the exterior pop of pink and pastel trio  inside had a feminine look that may attract bachelorette party getaways and catch the eye of moms planning family vacations when the home became part of the rentals portfolio.

Trio of Pink, Blue & Yellow

White walls, countertops, and gleaming tile backsplash help show off the summer palette of pink, blue, and yellow. Neutral rattan, flooring, and wood detailing on the stove’s hood connect to the island landscape.

Chart Wallpaper Still Nods Nautical

Chart wallpaper in the bunk room is customized to highlight Mustang Island, with Cinnamon Shore marked with an umbrella on the map by the light-switch.

Finishes and elements such as  to-scale, chart wallpaper featuring Mustang Island in the bunk room were already chosen by SURF, but Raquel and the owners worked on custom window treatments and furnishings throughout to create a one-of-a-kind beachy haven.

Color in the Kitchen

In the kitchen,  the designer coordinated seating at the long dining table with the island stools, combining rattan and white wicker. “The spacious entertainment area on the second level was a huge plus,” Sheila says. “The large island presented the opportunity to add a statement table, which would complement the seating areas beautifully. We were already envisioning the joy of family gatherings in this space.”

Watercolor Hues

In the primary tower bathroom, an icy blue vanity matches sky-high custom drapes in the primary bedroom. The “dip-dyed, watercolor-like fabric” falls from the high ceilings to the floor. “Drapery panels really soften the space and take it to the next level,” Raquel says. Mixing in furniture pieces with a natural tone helps pull the space together, she adds, pointing to the wooden bench at the foot of the bed
