Understanding Pool Temperatures
Our heaters are set to a consistent 82°F, but water may occasionally feel different from day to day. Here's a brief look at why.
1. The "Air-to-Water" Temperature Contrast
• On a cool day: 82°F water will feel like a warm, inviting bath.
• On a warm/humid day: If the air temperature is also near 80°F, the water may actually feel "refreshing" or even slightly cool because there isn't a sharp contrast between the air and the water.
2. The Evaporation Effect
When you step out of the pool, moisture evaporates off your skin. If it’s windy or the air is dry, this process happens faster, making you feel much colder than the water actually is.
3. Heat Circulation Cycles
Our heating systems use sensors to maintain efficiency. The heaters circulate on and off automatically to keep the water at the set point.
• If you are swimming near a return jet while the heater is "on," the water may feel notably warmer.
• When the pool reaches its target temperature, the heater cycles off temporarily. During this time, the surface water may cool slightly before the next cycle begins, though the overall body of water remains at 82°F.
