About the Fly
A sky full of color over the Gulf.
Each fall, kite flyers gather along the Port Aransas beach to fill the sky with kites of all shapes, sizes, and colors. Saturday is the main day, though you will likely see kites flying throughout the weekend. Flyers start setting up around 10 a.m. near Beach Marker 13 and spread along the sand between markers 1 and 20, with kites up all day, weather permitting.
If the evening breeze cooperates, the beach may light up after dark with glowing night kites. These are not a scheduled activity, so whether they appear depends on the wind and who turns out to fly.
Bring your own kite and join in, or simply stop by and enjoy the show. The fly is free, open to the public, and welcomes all ages. It is organized by Fly It Port A, whose social pages share updates ahead of each fly.
